Hey guys I have a question about generators. I have a parts truck that I think was a radio truck that has a 28 volt generator, I was gonna swap this in my M that has a 24 volt gen.

Would the voltage regulator be set different 24 volt vs. 28 volt? I don't want to smoke a perfectly good factory coil. Thanks!

I believe that the radio trucks had a 100 amp alternator, not a generator, along with a rectifier that mounted ahead of the radiator.

24-Volt systems charge at 28-Volts, so no difference.

The 100-Amp systems use a completely different regulator in their setup, the method of control is different (mechanical relay in the 25-Amp, carbon pile & servo in the 100-Amp) and the Bendix connectors are not interchangeable.

Anyone that has ever seen one knows the difference.
