Wiring under the dash

Are the "circuit breakers" or fuses under the dash available? Mine are kinda rusty.

To Quote Vintage Wiring of Maine:

" The kit will include the voltage regulator harness to the circuit breakers, but not the circuit breakers themselves. You will also have to RE-USE your generator to voltage regulator cable and RE-USE the 1 to 1 and 2 to 1 Bakelite connectors."

What are the Bakelite connectors use for?

I've got to remember to photograph under the dash of someone's truck at Aberdeen....

The C/Bs are bulletproof even if rusty on the outside. Be sure to check if they open under load b/4 you replace. The C/Bs are available with douglas or packard connectors molded in. They are mounted directly to the cowl vent support. I actually added 2 additional C/Bs - one came with my heater from MWM and the other is for elect wipers. John at MWM has them and I think they're like $15 a piece.

The Gen to Reg is the 1" diameter harness that barrel connects to the gen and then connects to the volt reg mounted on the dash - about 24" long.

The Bakelites are the 1" plastic tube inside the douglas that provides the metal connection. They are tough to come by. The 1:1s are just a straight 1" tube and the 2:1s are shaped like a Tee.

I'd better see what's left under the dash then.

The bakelite pieces are for every connection? Maybe there are a few in the fragments of my harness.

Here is a photo of the C/B attached to the center support. Notice my heater used a packard and the rest are douglas

Saturn Surplus has the CBs and the connectors, I believe. look under electic and/od cables and connectors.

I do seem to have the CB's under there. The douglas are the newer ones, correct?

Thanks for the pic of a *clean* underdash compared to my rusty jungle.

Not one bakelite connector anywhere on the truck. Anybody know how many I need?

Yes! they do have them. And they seem to have the connectors too, but they are rubber and not baketlite. I'm still a bit fuzzy on these so if anyone can scare up a pic, that'd be great.

Nope. Incorrect. Douglas connectors are the older, metal connectors (like in the pic above). The newer rubber ones are called Packard connectors.

This will help with the rubber connectors. I know there is a similar chart for the metal connectors but I can't locate it.
