Anyone put two carseats in a M-37????? My 2 yr old is queen of the 51 but I am betting that my 7 month old little girl will get pissed when she is older that we are leaving without her. Ideally my problems would be solved if my wife was willing to follow along with the 53 but she is just not that kind of girl.

Any help would be appreciated.

I put 2 bucket seats in mine and there was enough space between them to put in another car seat. Only problem is it sat lower than the other car seat on the bucket seat.

These actual car seats??? I was talking child car seats...........I have the stock bench seat and I did install a seatbelt to hold the child seat but I am looking for ideas for another seat belt install so I can add the 2nd child car seat so I don't leave a screaming girl behind.

I have three seatbelts in my M37. Just attach the left middle belt to the anchor for the drivers seat, and the right middle belt to the anchor point for the left belt for the right side passenger belt. They are only lap belts though. I've had 2 carseats in mine. The kids loved it.

Are you using the military belts? Would love to see a picture on how it was done.

I don't have the military belts, just some lap belts out of a Ford. I drilled 7/16 inch holes through the floor close to the rear cab panel and used 7/16 grade 8 bolts with large washers underneath. I'm not sure its up to Dot specs but much better than no belts IMO.

In Colorado, all children from birth to three years of age must be in a rear seat, no exceptions. What do other states say for young children? I'd love to take my 14 month old boy out in the truck, but my take from reading a few google searches is that young kids are not allowed in front seats. I'd have to put in the belts I bought five years ago first though

Indiana laws state that if a vehicle doesn't have a back seat, the airbag must be turned off on the passenger side and the seat moved back as far as possible.

Revisiting this. Colorado law is that babies under one year or 20 lbs must be in a rear seat. Older kids can be in the front of a single seat truck. My previous posting was wrong.

When I bought my truck, I also immediately bought two lap belts. I think they are military. They have about a 3/8" hole through a metal piece on the end of the webbing and I am looking for a good place to mount them. Like duecedriver said, any pics would be great

BC is a little different when it comes to kids:

Kids must be at least 40" tall and 40lbs to move from a typical 5 point restraint child seat to a conventional booster seat. The booster seat will be used until the child reaches 80lbs. or 9 years old, whichever comes first. Babies should be in a rear facing seat until they are large enough to fit in a forward facing car seat.
If a vehicle does not have seat belts from the factory, they do not need to be installed to transport adults or children (although common sense says this is a good idea). Booster seats are not required with lap belts, only with typical 3 point restraint systems.
There will always be a "what should I do if..." scenario, and the answer I got from the RCMP was "do the best you can in any given situation"...

If you can install seat belts, great. If you can install child car seat anchors, even better. We don't need to worry about air bags in an M37, but if all you have is a regular cab truck, turn off the passenger air bag, or have it made non operational...
Governments around the world know these rules are not practical to everyone, but they fit 98% of the motoring public who carry children. For the other 2%, just do the best you can...

DJ is right. If you have as single cab pickup there obviously is no rear seat. There has to be a zillion single cab pickups
in Colorado. I am sure many transport children in car seats in the one and only front seat. All late model single cab pickups like mine have switch to turn off the air bag. Since air bags are not a problem with M37's it's not an issue.
I suggest you contact Colorado DMV or Colorado Highway Patrol for more accurate information. Since shoulder belts are
NOT used with child restraint seats, your only problem is how to safely secure the lap belts. I think the "letter of the law" in
Colorado assumes all vehicles have air bags up front.

It is really simple, according to the Colorado State Patrol website. If the child is under a year of age or under 20 lbs, then front seat carry is not legal. No exceptions.. from what I can tell. I am not going to address DJ's comment, as I sense some other agenda there. My child is a year and a half old and pickup cab front seat travel is legal, so I am looking for safe means of belting him in. Any good advice and pictures of seats belts installed would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, big washers on the ends of bolts through the cab floor is the route I am going

Sometimes laws are biased on other laws. The "Everyone shall wear seat belt" law here that means no one can ride in the bed turns out to be biased on a law that excludes vehicles from 1968 and older. Not many know that its technically legal for people to ride in the back of their M37 cause its old.

Jim, if you have a citation for that law, I'd really like to have it. It would be very nice to have a copy of that RCW in the truck.
