I am in the process of buying a M37 and it needs the glass for the drivers door. Can someone give me the dimensions of the glass and what type of glass I need so I can get a price?

Glass should run between $40-$80 depending where you live in the US. I pulled the frame and went to the local glass shop, they put in laminate glass for around $60. Just be careful when removing the clips that secure the frame on the window regulator, they can break easily if rusted or not careful.

Depending on where you live is exactly right. Here on the west coast I alloted up to $100 to replace my driver's door glass. The glass shops in town wanted anywhere from $125 to $150 to do it. I was able to negotiate one down to $100 because I did all the prep work, such as getting the mounting screws unstuck after 50+ years, sanding off all the crust, paint, etc. The screw extractions were tedious-copious amounts of PB Blaster, taps with a hammer and screwdriver, more PB, more taps, etc. They all came free but I still replaced all the screws anyway, and now have good glass all the way around.

I called my local shop and they didnt want to do it. Thats why if I new the size i could tell them the size I need and get it made.

Reputable glass shops should be doing the measuring themselves since they'll be doing the install. I'd seek another shop willing to handle the entire job-that's why I can't post the dimensions-the shop measured, ordered, cut, installed it into the frame, and sealed my glass. That's what they were paid to do.

Stated differently Gerry, if you provide dimensions that end up incorrect, you've just purchased an extra sheet of glass you'll have little use for, and will still need and pay additional for a correct-size sheet for your window.

I had several door glasses done in shelby, nc, they cost me 50.00 each, I like the other guy done all the prep work , sandblast, prime, paint first, use the liquid filler around the glass. makes a nice job. by the way i will have a nice drivers side door glass at aberdeen for sale if you are comming. geraldo

I will not be at Aberdeen its 4-5 hours away and with gas prices it becomes a little to costly. Spending all my money buying my truck wich I hope to get in the next 2 weeks.

Last year I paid 40$ for the install(Central VA), like everyone else, I did the prep/paint etc. IMHO, wait till you get your mitts on the vehicle, remove the panel carefully, clean & prep the panel, take it all to your glass guy, he might sing a different tune w/ all the hard work done. My GG used impregnated cork gasket, there is however a rubber, three sided gasket available. I've used both. If you make it to Aberdeen, look for Garbee's area, all the guys will be hanging out eating Carter's Chow, I am going to be there Saturday morning/evening.
