Let's Play "Guess What Came in the Drainage Pipe"

Hi Guys,

Ok, my reasons for posting this are three-fold.........first, I know you guys like pics. You must have been deprived that Kodak Brownie camera as a youth.....but you just love pics. Second, I thought getting a differential in a 5 gallon bucket delivered by UPS was pretty innovative. This one is even better. Third, I owe Jerry (m37jarhead) a shameless pic of myself wearing the cool shirt he sent me from his MV club.

First the package. Try to guess what M37 part was shipped to me in that drainage tube. It's fairly heavy and would have destroyed any box it was shipped in........which is what makes this packaging so cool.......drainage tubes are indestructible. I can't wait to explain it to my UPS guy. So take a guess.

Second, the shirt. I just love wearing other's MV club shirts to the military meets I go to and around town. It starts more conversations than you might know. If I'm at a meet it starts out something like....."Did you travel all the way from there to be here at this meet".....and then the conversation continues. Around town people will start with "Do you know ????, he's into old military trucks........he's got tons of parts......you need to go meet him". Etc, etc, etc.

I don't belong to a local MV club, there are none real close to me........so I get a kick out of wearing other club's shirts. The one in these pics if from Jerry's club in Arizona. Awesome color scheme and it will match my AF M37 when that someday gets restored. But at the rate I'm going I'll probably wear the shirt out well before the M gets made all pretty again. :D

If your club has cool shirts they sell let me know. Others on here might like to buy one too. You never know..........we could be starting a trend here.

regards,
bob

Only thing I can figure that would be heavy and arched is a leaf spring set

Bob,

Cool shirt and I'm guessing that a leaf spring is in that drain tube.

Bob:
It looks like you're handling something heavy in the drain tube. Can't be a drive line
with that bend. Agree with leaf spring.

If the AMVCC shirt wears out before you get all the Strata Blue on your M37, let me
know, I'll replace it.

A sharp eye will see what appears to be a "Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer" sign in the upper
right of Bob's pic.

I have a collection of Brownie cameras as well as many others and still do like to see lots of M37 pics so post 'em when ever you can.
That's a good looking shirt Bob and my guess is that the drainage pipe contains an axle that needs just a little straightening. :D
Looks like you are taking care of the red truck keeping it covered and away from the snow and rain.

Hi Guys,

Ok.......you're good. I figured the curve of the drainage pipe might throw you, as no drainage pipe is ever straight..........but you got me.......it's a front leaf spring! When I came home from work and saw in the driveway with a few other boxes of stuff I ordered I burst out laughing. My UPS guys must think I'm a nut.....or building a mega-bomb. :D

Yes, the shirt is very cool. Whoever designed it for Jerry's club did a great job. Simple, bright, and hard to miss. Excellent job...and thanks again JB for sending it!

A buddy of mine and I put up the Dad's Root Beer sign on the side of the barn when I bought the place back in 1995. I live just a few miles from a Naval Air Station and the test pilots, as well as the Blue Angels, use my barn as a ground identification marker while flying. It was a fun project......I made the sign on a piece of paper, then made a transparency of that, and then borrowed an old overhead projector (remember them?) from work and shone it on the barn at night. We then traced the outlines for everything in marker and the next day we painted it. It was like a paint by numbers without the numbers. Easy and fun. That reminds me.......I need to return that overhead projector one of these days :D

Carter, the red truck is covered the best I can for now. I'm hoping to build a garage like yours this Spring to give her a permanent indoor home. I've got to deal with some health issue first, I'm heading to see the Doc in an hour or so...........but if the news isn't too bad I hope to get on that garage project ASAP.

Glad everyone liked the pics and the shirt! I can't wait to see what my next wacky shipping container is going to look like.

You guys take care,
bob

Bob; I think the way you have it stored is OK and it is much better than exposed to the elements. When I had that truck covered I would take the tarp off on sunny days allowing the truck and tarp to dry because moisture would condense on the cover's underside keeping everything wet.
Health issues? I hope all works out well for you my friend and I am looking forward to seeing you this year at Aberdeen.

Hi Carter,

Yes, I do the same......tarps off when the weather is nice. I haven't found much condensation under them when I remove them, but we all know it gets there. I'll get thru the health issues, but thanks for the support. I'm looking forward to Aberdeen, lets just hope it warms up by then!!
