fuel tank pickup

I am putting my fuel tank back and the original pick up filter is in good shape and worked fine before,can I use it again ,?

I wouldn't. You can't see inside the filter, so you don't know how close to being "full" it is. Besides that I hear they degrade over time and end up clogging up the fuel system. Recently new reproductions of the filter have become available from the normal Military parts vendors. When you consider what problems that old filter can cause down the road and the hassle of replacing it when the truck is all together........if it were me I'd change it now for a fresh new filter and never worry about it again.
If you're hell-bent on using the original filter I'd at least back-flow it with pressurized fuel or fuel system cleaner to clean it and verify it's not coming apart, as well as making sure it's not blocked.

I bought my tank filter from John Bizal. It is a stainless steel mesh that I feel will make a great pre-filter to keep junk out of the fuel lines but I will still use a second filter in the engine bay.
