I recently came across a local ish craigslist ad that has a Braden LU-2 with cable for $100. No PTO or shaft, but wanted to know if this was worth it to snag for my M37. I guess braden rated it at 10klbs, Dodge downrated to 8k so it's in the right range. It's a bit of a hike to go fetch since it is south of Boston ~4 hours away but it seems like it might be worth it. Thoughts?

The Lu 2 winch was factory equipment option on 57 to 74 "W" 100,200,300 Dodge trucks.
That's a great price for it as they are as rare as the others to find.
You could make it fit your "M" with as much work or more than what some try to do with the MU 2.
It's not a bolt on fit even with frame extensions. And the PTO shaft is allway's a problem because I doubt you can get it to pass through the hole in the front cross member as intended.
Not saying there not doable, just be prepared for the extra work. I have seen a couple MU 2's that were installed with a lot of fabricating.

that's what I was worried about. I don't think I'll be finding an LU-4 for a reasonable price at some point and with the $1k price tags for the PTO am I just better off going with one of the big electric warn winches since I ultimately want to repower it. With the LU-2 I would probably end up converting it to hydraulic for the same reason, but couldn't find a whole lot of information on the LU-2 as far as durability etc
