Park Light "ON" Q1

Bench testing my forward harness (24v) in the basement, when the upper lever is "Ser Drive" and the lower lever is "Park", my park lights work. The question is my "HI Beam" indicator red light is "on" - is this normal to alert you left the lights on - or is this trouble?

On both my trucks the high beam light goes out when I put the parking lights on. Sounds like something is crossed.

Could be a crossed wire , also a bad ground on one of the lights (could be a headlight or a park lamp) can cause that too. Poor ground in a lighting circuit can make some odd things happen, the ground can try to find a path through another bulb an it makes it glow in the process.

Thanks!

What we found was the harness laying on the bench, my son moved the switch which pulled the left lighting harness, and he noticed a spark. We took apart the douglas connectors and found one where the metal ring had pushed the rubber at an angle allowing the ring to make contact to the terminal pin. Thus the metal shell touched other shells creating the ghost image. IF we had the harness installed with the metal retainers screwed to the splash shield -we may have had a light show of sparks. Good thing we found it on the bench. As a pre-caution, we thought about dipping the tips of the retainers in that plastisol rubber stuff you use on tool handles to insulate the grounding effect. Any ideas?
