wiring woes

OK, started wiring the M-37, have a bunch of stuff I collected over the years, including a VWoM harness.
Issue 1; my truck has an ammeter, but the regulator harness I have is 2 wire, I don’t mind switching to a voltmeter (I like them better anyway…) is there any other issue I may run into? (besides the spider harness)
Issue 2; is the circuit breaker on the back of the instrument cluster for the ammeter circuit? The wiring diagram is a bit vague here.
Issue 3; the dimmer switch has a molded connector, the harness has Douglas connectors, am I missing a part?
Issue 4; I have a new regulator to generator harness, it is short with a 90 on one end, the old one was about 18 inches longer and does not have a 90? The box says G741 cable assy, generator to regulator Item 1; 2920-741-8486 pn 23735, I am guessing this is for the higher amp regulator?

I looked at the manuals, and the wiring section is pretty useless, so I come to the masters for help.

Issue 1 if you like the voltmeter better, go with that. The voltmeter is what was installed.
Issue 2. wire 27 feeds the circuit breaker, then from the circuit breaker to the spider harness.
Issue 3. The dimmer, you should have will have two Douglas connectors fixed to the dimmer, one male and one female ,and a wire with a double Douglas. The one you say with molded connector is for the next generation fittings( packard) it could be adapted.
Issue 4.Without looking at my M for length, 18 sounds right. The 90 would be at the regulator and the straight end into the generator. I don't recall if there is another size regulator except for the 100 amp. That would have longer cables if I"m correct. The early model M37 (like mine 1951 ) the cable from the regulator to the generator had two straight ends no 90.

Thanks!

Does anyone have a Douglas connector voltmeter and dimmer switch?

AB Linn has new dimmer switches. I will look this evening for the voltmeter because I thought I had an extra one. I might even have a used dimmer switch.
