GOOD MORNING, I need my distributor number number so I can buy parts to rebuild it. Is there a uniform number ? or does each distributor have its own number?? If there is a common number please leave it. If its individual numbered where can I find the number??
THANKS BOB

Hi Bob,
Call John @ Midwest, he has most everything you will need to rebuild it.

Hi Bob,
There were two different distributor part numbers used on the M37, the difference between them relates to whether the 24v power lead was filtered in the distributor or outside the distributor. Early M's used a seperate filter capacitor mounted on the firewall, thus that distributor has no provision for an internal capacitor filter. Later M's used a distributor that had the internal filtering capacitor. The part numbers are as follows;
Early Distributor (no internal filter); PN 7374884
Later Distributor (w/internal filter); PN 7355734
There should be a metal tag (label) riveted to the side of the distributor housing, and on that tag will be stamped one of the Ordinance Part Numbers listed above. If you don't have that tag I can get you some pics later when I get home to identify which distributor you have. The majority of internal components are the same between the two distributors, the only difference is in inclusion or exclusion of the filter capacitor and its lead wire.
regards,
bob

Oh.....you wanted the Pertronix part number.
For the stock M37 distributor (either version) the Pertronix part number is MV-161A. I got that from searching this forum under "Pertronix", as it seems more than a few have made the switch.

bob

Hi Bob,
I forgot to mention.....I don't know what Pertronix sells it for, but you can find MV-161A on Ebay for $120 w/free shipping and on Amazon.com for $125 w/free shipping. Just FYI.
