I'm new to the site and have a question . Does anyone know or have the manual lever for the original trico wiper motor on a 1952? I e-mailed wiperman.com but got no answer. By the way, you all have a nice site.

Hey Mark, Welcome to the Forum!
Is the lever broke off, or missing?

I saw your post over on SS Board. Any leads yet, I didn't notice, but I'm guessing mine are the same? I'll check tomorrow, wiper guy might be off for the week-end? Have you asked any of the usual suspects,ie; John Bizal @ Mid-West Mill or Fred @ Adirondack, maybe Sid @ Ace Surplus?

Speaqking of wiper motors, May I expand this thread by asking : what level of performance can one expect from these original wiper motors and wiper blades while driving in heavier snow ?

Actually, the vacuum wipers work fairly well in snow if it's the kind with big, wet flakes. They're ok in light rain, too. In heavy rain, freezing rain, or sleet, though, you're better off parking somewhere and waiting it out. If you have freezing fog conditions, don't even turn the ignition switch on!

How disappointing, I wonder what they did in Europe: "Hey Wolfgang, stop shooting untill the freezing fog stops so I can drive my truck" ...

"Jawohl, Joe! Ich habe auch das problem!"
("OK, Joe! I have the same problem.)
Actually, we (and they) just stuck our heads out the window and froze our noses off to get the job done.

Actually the words "incoming" probably was motivation alone to put the hammer down.... I am actually planning to install 24v wipers. We added a breaker and a push/pull chrome switch that matches the controls for the heater we got from MWM. The vac wipers are on the list of rebuilds - just to keep in case someone wants a 100 point vehicle for sunny day driving.

Knattrass, I'm glad you coined that phrase: "sunny day driving" Ha !, For the life of me I do not understand how some people can percieve a macho, kick ass, off the road, rough and tough, big boys military vehicle as such...well, I better leave that one alone. And now, tell me Knatrass, and LIFER and all, are you all going to Aberdeen? I would like to say hello to you and the others who frequent this site. Peter ( I'll never put my truck in a trailer) Mark

I won't be going to Aberdeen for several reasons.
(1) It's about a 1,000 mile drive for me,
(2) I'm in poor health,
(3) I have several Legion and 40&8 functions that I'm already committed to, and
(4) My truck isn't on the road yet.
I sure wish I could be there, though.

I am planning, but Big Red be will making the trek, the only way the od godess will make the trek is in a trailer.
Maybe I could leave the trailer @ my brothers place in Belair, that would be about forty mile round trip ?
