is a missing carburetor a problem?

A funny story about that. Years ago, many years ago, I worked at a gas/service station. We did a lot of repair work. My boss told the gas pumper /helper to go get the car next to the bathrooms. He drives up to the lift with this badly missing car, he brought the wrong one. The carb had been removed to be rebuilt,but the gas line was shooting gas down the manifold enough to make it run ,but very poorly.

And the paint will buff right out too........
