Let's Play "Name Those Parts"

Hi Guys,

How about a little game where you guys share some of that M37 knowledge you all have. The winner gets.....ummmm......didn't your Mom ever tell you winning isn't everything....she was right ya know.

I picked up up a bunch of M37 parts from Carter a few weeks back and I need some help identifying what they are. If we're all stumped I'm sure Carter can answer, but the poor guy's in a world of pain right now and I really don't want to make him sit at his computer and answer my silly questions when he'd be more comfortable in another position. So let's see if you guys can help me figure out what I've got here....or if they're not M37 parts then let me know that too;

The first stumper is the BIG O-ring thing that the other pieces are inside of. Anybody? It's one hell of a big O-ring!

Next up is the featureless metal plate. I've got no clue.

Then we have those 2 U-bolt thingies that I don't recognize.

And last a metal pipe....maybe an oil line?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks,
bob

Metal Plate goes on the cab under the steering column. Not sure about the other parts.

Hi Rick,

Do you mean that plate goes under the dash, maybe near the firewall? I ask because it's not the plate that sits directly under the steering column on the face of the dash....that plate is wider, has 4 bolt holes, and 4 holes for a data plate that's directly under the steering column. That's what I thought it was too, but I found that plate and they're not even close.

thanks,
bob

The big U bolts mount in the door frame to attach the top bows ( actually there is one U bolt and one J bolt)

I think that is the plate on the firewall under the column. The tube looks like it might be the brake line from the master cylinder to the frame tee. Is the O ring roughly the size of the air cleaner fording shroud? Just a WAG on that one

The tube is actually the line that goes from the stock master cylinder to the fitting on the frame where it splits to the front and rear.

See.......that's why I come to you guys with my problems.........you're awesome. Brett....I'll check the O-ring against an air cleaner when I get home from work tonight..thanks for the lead.

MM......nothing wrong with our mis-spent youth. I think I learned more about the world from watching Bugs Bunny cartoons in the morning than I did from 12 years in school. Have you watched the crap kids watch today? Politically correct and provides no info on how to survive in this world. Hey......I'm ranting in the wrong section.....my bad.

Thanks again guys!!

Bob,

The "U" bolts are for the uprights on the top, the "O" ring may be from the Generator but it looks too thick for that, I can't ID the metal plate YET. The tube is for the master cylinder main line.

I go along with A brake line
B gasket for the fording air cleaner shroud
C U bolts for the soft top. However I had one used for the cargo strap
D The blank plate Not that I've seen every possible part an M37 could have, I don't believe it's an M37 part.

That metal line is actually the line which goes from the MC to the inline brass T, which goes through the frame...

Is the metal plate a heat sheild for the fuel pump? I know the civi 230s had them...

and I could use those two U bolts!!

The plate is against the firewall under the steering column. If you pull back the rubber weatherstripping that is against the firewall you will see it.

Vince Lombardi said: "Wining isn't everything, it's the ONLY thing."

The two "U" bolts shown are exactly like the two I just removed from the rear door pillars.
They were used to secure the down tubes off the bottom of the Artic top. I suppose the same
application for soft top rigs too.
