Hi all.
Is it possible to get a replacement coil at the auto parts store? Is there a NAPA number for our coils?
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Guys,

In that suggested thread there's this entry.......
Don't forget that its more than just vent lines - you have to make sure that the carb elbow fittings have the little pitot tubes on them aimed in the right direction.... the upstream one, closest to the pass side faces into the wind... the down stream one, closest to driver's side faces downwind to get the vacuum. Be sure to check those fittings in the elbow, ours were missing. We had to make them out of copper tubing and solder them in. I saw a post on SS that said you don't need them - but I think you do. The distributer is water tight like a crab's backside, and there is no way that simple convection is going to keep it cool.

I'm not seeing what he's talking about on my M in regards to the elbow fittings with the little pitot static pressure tubes on them. Can someone post a pic of these fittings or direct me to a pic in a manual somewhere so I can see what's being talked about and what I might be missing?

thanks,
bob

Here you go Bob,

The first two pictures are of the inlet tube. Keep in mind this must face toward the incoming air in the carb intake elbow.

The last two are for the return.

Hope this helps you.

Bert, thanks for posting those photos. I had a similar question about these parts a year ago, and I soldered up inlet and return parts which both looked like the curved inlet you showed. They face different directions. I might put a beveled cut on the return one, but that is low on the list of things to do.

Is this the main coil on the ignition system? To be honest I have an accel universal on mine, Hoping it works once I get a new battery swapped in. Just as a side not, mine was converted to 12 volt slap-shoddily by one of the previous owners, looking to fix that once I get it running again. Well, if I don't have to rewire her first that is...

these are the vent lines to the distributer, which internally houses the coil

So the Accel coil works. Other issue with the fuel system are keeping the truck from staying on though.....
