Where to find Radiator Cap Gasket ??

Hi Guys,

Temps are getting near freezing here in Southern Maryland so I figured I better make sure there's antifreeze in my M. When I took the cap off the good news was there was antifreeze in there. :D The bad news is that there were two red paper-like gaskets in the filler neck that seal to the center portion of the cap when it's installed, and both of those gaskets were broken and literaly crumbled in my hand. :(

Does anyone know if those gaskets are available at Napa or some auto parts store. I guess them come with a new cap, but I don't need a new cap, just some gaskets. Looking at good ol' ORD 9 it says there should only be one gasket, so that's what I'll put back if I can find any. If anyone has replaced their gasket can you tell me where you got it and how you asked for it? I know if I tell the kid at the Napa that I'm looking for anything from 1952 he's just going to roll his eyes and say "We don't have anything like that". Kids......go figure!

thanks,
bob

Hi Bob,

I got a new gasket when I had my radiator boiled out. They had one heck of a selection at the radiator shop.

If the radiator shop doesn't have it, try John at Midwest. Worst case, some gasket material and make your own.

Hi Warren,

Closest radiator shop is an hour away......so making my own might just be the simpliest way. :(
