Frame Color(s)

I know this is an old topic and a search shows many opinions. When we stripped the paint on the front frame, it was gloss black under the newer flat black but only to a point. The "extensions", or the part of the frame that extends out to the front bumper was OD with no black under the many OD and orange layers. Some say it should be black all the way to the bumper, others say black and then OD from a "point" forward. If OD from a point, what point? Since my remaining paint was poor and the frame rusty at the front extensions, I could not determine the "point" when we stripped the frame. The frame was stripped to bare steel, epoxy primed, and today I painted some of the frame OD as before. Pictures of where I quit with OD were to be attached but this site tells me "attachments quotas have been reached"

Any advice or just go with black all the way?

Hi r,

I can't answer your question....but you raise a good point. There should be a whole seperate section on this forum for how to paint an M37. Army, Air Force, Marines, First series, Second series, B1 versions, Canadian, etc. And then the correct colors, primers, what parts were painted what....etc. Sure would be nice to come to a concensus on that stuff and put it all in one place.

regards,
bob

I remember that Lifer said the frames came from the factory Satin Black and then got repainted at the unit they were assigned to.
