I don"t know if im too tall (6'1) or just a bit clumsy. over the years of having my 37 i have experienced the same three injuries time and again from the truck. first is the funny bone to the top of the door then a scalping from the hard top
and last a pinched finger from the hood

has any one else had similar experiences

Rolling your extension lead up after working on the truck and hitting yourself in the nads as you do so.....

Before I installed my window weatherstrip on the cab upright I scraped myself and ripped a few T shirts on the sharp metal retainer strip getting in and out of the truck.

hood pinched a finger last night; I figured Henry was pissed at his lack of progress!

apparently you guys dont have rust? my best are cuts from rusty metal, although the funny bone has happened

Stiff knees from long hours of driving

Not common but did this while adjusting the valves on a hot & running engine.

Ouch Carter someone needs longer tappet wrenches

Ditto that one Carter-I did the same thing!

Rather than longer wrenches I now do it cold but it did make an interesting picture, easy to do on a hot manifold isn't it Gary.

I have posted this shot several times over the years as a warning to be careful doing a hot engine valve adjust , and yes that IS my hand.

I always set the tappets cold, was that the wrong thing to do??
I set the tappets hot correctly, let the engine totally cool down overnight and measured the clearances cold, didn't seem to be a problem to do them this way....
Oh - I am not having a shot at anyone, I just got sick of the burns and did what my Dad said as he was a mechanic on trucks, cars, machinery and stationery engines.

I to set my tappets cold as per Charles @ M Series Rebuild insrutuction here on this site.

I highly recommend the "Ove Glove" when working near a hot manifold
