Hi Guys,

I've heard more than one person on here refer to something called the "Big Electric Days". Can someone explain what that means for us noobs?

Bigelectric was the creation of Eric Hodecker, a cartoonist and general good guy, his forum is where I started to learn more about my truck and got the job of moderator as I could check all the postings during your night time and do any changes as required with as little inconvenience to you guys as possible. It was a very basic forum format with text threads, more a bulletin board than a forum in it's design but it served the purpose well. Eric went through some tough times and as a result shut it all down, he didn't want to but that is the way it went, Gordon Maney, Joe Cimoch and Steel Soldiers all filled the gap for us while there was no M37 hangout (Thanks Guys), Robi then stepped up and with the help of his Brother? I think?? He created G741.org and we haven't looked back, Robi has kept the forum up to date with only the picture posting being an issue but there are plenty of other options with photobucket etc...
The history of the M37 forum Bigelectric has been written, I wonder where this one will end up as it is the only M37 specific forum I know of....

The forum cut thru all the M37 haze
It satisfied my thirst for M37 knowledge craze
And put me on a correct repair procedure ways

Eric did a great job back then and all I can say is the forum keeps getting better!
I am glad "new"guys have a place to ask direct questions even if some of them may seem basic to us old turkeys. I am never to old to learn and I would rather learn from someone elses mistakes as it saves me money. The group here is a great group and I really appreciate how we gently police ourselves without anyone getting uptight about protocol on the site. This is supposed to be a fun hobby even though we are all really serious about our trucks.

I got my M 152 from an ad on the "Big Electric" site. It was the place to find an exchange of information between people who had a common specific interest. At least you knew you weren't the only one crazy enough to want to fix, resurrect, save, modify, tinker with, restore or sometimes actually drive an M37. g741 has evolved to be more responsive in part because enough "wrenches" have found there way here to create some critical mass of knowledge to share. Thanks to all those who do share their experience. I know I've sure learned a lot and I've been fixing one thing or another for 45 years now.

AND A REALLY BIG THANKS TO THOSE GUYS THAT KEEP g741 GOING !!!!

I started waaay back in the Big Electric days too. Small group of guys back then.....although wasn't there a woman with a M37 radio truck at some point..... It got me started on my M37 and was a place where no question was too stupid.
Nice to see that it's evolved into this great site and great group of guys.

I remember the Radio Truck Gal, I am sure she's still around, her rig was quite a serious set-up.

If you go over to Rich Johnson's website (big green radio guy) he has pics of her truck and quite a bit of info about her.

Thanks for the info. Just wondering.....why was it called BigElectric? Can you give me a sense of a timeline....when was it online? Was it just for M37s or all military vehicles?

All M-37/M-42 any and all of the variants. I stumbled onto the Big Electric late 1999, how much went on earlier Monkey Man might be able to help with that? Where the handle came from is anybodies guess.

I am not sure of the inception of Bigelectric but I think I found it 97'. The name Bigelectric was entirely Erics idea and he did explain it to me one but I have forgotten, apologies to all that are wondering, I'll do my best to remember....one day......

If I remember correctly the name Big Electric was connected or came from some cartoons he was drawing for publication.
