OT, can you help ID this light?

I got this light in a package deal. I thought it was a siren, and noticed it had a light inside the grille. It is about 8" long, cast aluminum and HEAVY! I opened it up to see what voltage the siren was, and imagine my surprise when all that was inside it was a light, made by Guide, and marked 1941. So it is some type of a blackout light, but I have no idea what it would be off of. Any help in identifying it would be appreciated.

Hi Tim,
I thought of you this weekend at the Red Ball rally when I saw your light on a vendor's table. He told me it was used on police cars and trucks and such. He said there was a red lens that could be put on over the bulb behind the cover and that the bulb was a dual filament that flashed in one of two ways. He also said the rate of flashing varied with engine speed. He thought they were pretty rare these days....so good find.

Thanks for the update, that is great info! The bulb definately has the 2 filiments so what you say seems right.
Do you recall what he was asking for it?

I actually didn't ask what he wanted for it because I overheard him talking to another guy who was interested in a WW2 blackout light he had. I could tell by the way he arranged the items on his tables and from overhearing him talk to the other guy that he thought his stuff was gold. When he told me what that light was from he started saying how rare it was, bla, bla, bla....so the I knew if he gave me a price it wouldn't be realistic. I went back to his spot before I left on the second day and he hadn't sold anything. But I'll keep my eyes peeled and when I see another I'll try to get a realistic price for you.

I bet my light was also made by MARS, unless other companies used that big V in the grilles.

Hi Tim,
You're welcome. That's such an interesting light you have there it's gonna stick in my mind for awhile. I'll keep digging to see if we can't figure out what vehicles it was put on. When I get some time I'll Google "Military Staff Cars"....I bet it was on some of those!
