Crank case vent valve

Hey Guys,
Trying to seal up some oil leaks when I discovered the tubing leading to the crankcase vent valve was leaking at all the connections. Took everything apart and it was completely clogged with gunk. I fought it for about an hour and finally gave up. It was totally froze up. I took it apart to try to free it up but it is shot. Does anyone know if a replacement part can be Purchased locally say from NAPA? If so can you give me a part number. I know VPW sales them but want to get this back together as soon as possible.

I searched the site and couldn't find any info on part numbers.

Thanks in advance guys.

Mark

Greetings Mark,
Army Tank Guy on eBay has one listed for auction. You could call him and see if he has another available for sale.I don't think an auto parts store will carry this one as it has fittings on both ends as opposed to a civie version that generally has a tubing fitting on at least one end.VPW's replacement isnot original and is slightly longer but is supposed to work. The one on eBay is NOS.Good luck in your search.Chris.

Hey Bruce,
Had to order another one, the original was completely shot. Waiting on the replacement to arrive. I also had to replace one of the brass elbows, someone in the past put just a little bit too much torque on it, cracked the thing. But as soon as the replacement arrives I will be putting everything back together.

Truth be told, I had my replacement for about 7 years, it took me that long to figure out how to do it. While messing around with my Zenith Model # 29 Carb & Winter/Summer Tab, it dawned on me! :D

Yep, I found all kinds of "work arounds" from the previous owners. Instead of replacing the over torqued fitting they just wedged it in place and used the pressure of the tubing to hold it. They were venting the pressure around the fittings. But like most of the new owners I am learning as I go. Little bit at a time. I think the toughest part is waiting on the parts to arrive. That drives me nuts!
