The screen in my fuel filler neck has a tear. What's the easiest /best way to fix this?
(I know, now a days the screen serves no purpose, except to keep the squirrels out.)

Mine was mostly gone on my truck, so I just soldered in a piece I had laying around.

I'm not sure where the strainer I had came from, but anything should work for you. I used a plumbing torch to melt the solder and remove the remnants of the original strainer. Then it was some flux and solder to attatch the new. In the second shot you can see where there were some mounting holes that I blocked with some small pieces of sheetmetal soldered in place. When I was done I hosed it all down with brake cleaner to remove any flux.
Good Luck
Brett
BTW While keeping debris from getting into the tank may not be as big of a problem today, keeping a siphon hose out is. I know the filler neck is easily removed, but to a thief taking a quick look it at least looks like an obstacle.

I thought the squirrels in my backyard were a pain. When they open my gas cap I know I'm in trouble. I just had to say that.
