I have a municipality who is a customer of mine that has aquired a M113A2 they wish to restore for parade use. They are looking for a parts source. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

He might try Surplus City Jeep parts (even though I don't use them any more due to their exorbitant shipping charges). Thye usually had some tracks out front when I lived relatively close--wish I could have picked up one of their M578 Recovery vehicles....

Hingsing,
3 or 4 years ago we did a large project for BAE Systems in Anniston,AL. At the time they were doing a "Combat Reset" on a large number of M113's. They were stripping them down to bare hulls which were then blasted down to clean metal and all damage to the hulls was repaired. They were then repainted, and reassembled with all new or rebuilt parts. there were thousands of used tracks, road wheels, road arms, and every thing else you could imagine stacked up on pallets, Much of it still in useable condition. I don't know what happened to all these parts, but if I were looking for M113 parts I would possibly try BAE systems as they were making most parts themselves, or I would start contacting some Surplus dealers in or near Anniston, AL and see what kinds of leads they can get you.

BTW working on that job Made me fall in love with the sound of those Detroit Diesels. Every time they would fire one up and pull it off the end of the assembly line, I couldn't keep from smiling.

There's a fellow in Hazelton Pa named David Yamula who deals in AFV bits. If you contact him, he may be able to help. Here's his site:
http://www.militaryvehiclesupply.net/ .
As for BAE systems, I'd imagine that unless you were a large firm or a forign Gov't, they probably aren't going to give you the time of day. Businesses like that don't really deal with individuals or in small amounts (meaning: enough for only one vehicle). There also may be a reg against them selling those parts to American (civilian) Citizens. That's just my $.02, though.

Just thought of this: You may also want to post your "wants" over in the "armored & tracked" sections of the
www.g503.com as well as over on
www.steelsoldiers.com there are more then a few M113 owner/operators over on those sites...Sadly, I am not one of them....
