Seat base differences

Hi Guys,

I've noticed on a number of trucks made after mine (April '52) that the two slots in the seat base (passenger side facing the door) which hold the strap that holds the first aid kit are no longer there. But the rubber grommet holes are still there. So how do you hold the first aid kit to the side of the seat base in the newer trucks without any way to attach a strap to the base? Or was the first aid kit moved and stored someplace else? You can see what I'm talking about in the two pics below. The aqua seat base (mine) has the two slots in the indentation for the first aid kit, and the OD base does not. What gives?

thanks,
bob

My cab is a 52 and has the holes like photo 2 below. I just ran some OD lacing through them and tied a bow around the first aid kit.

The '53 cab on my truck had no slots so I used footman's loops to hold the retaining strap. Not orig. but it works.

I suppose it could be said that I cheated but I would prefer calling myself a master of the field expedient.

I often contempate what the guys in the field would have done when making repairs.
