If a M37 had a heater kit installed for the cab the actuall heater was mounted on the drivers side fender. Then the ducting was run into the cab to heat the cab.

The fender mounted heater is a hot water heater that draws hot water from the engine to the radiator/heat exchanger on the fender. They put out
volumes of BTU's. M37 drivers have been known to drive naked in forty degrees below zero temperatures with one of these units going full blast.
(Just kidding). They work extremely well. Fender mounted heaters is a subject that has been explored in depth of this forum. If you can find
some of these posts using a "search" it will tell you most everything you want to know.
Aslo see: TB 9-2855-45 "Installation of hot water personnel heater kit." The "kit" can also be had with a windshield defroster unit. Handy to
have in humid environments. Complete kits are costly are very difficult to find.
I've had these fender mounted heaters on my last two M37's and if it ever gets to forty below here in southern Arizona, I'll be ready.

If you still need more info, search "heater" or "heaters" .
Even if you never have the need for one, they sure look cool.
