I need to repair the bottom of my cab corners. They are rusted where it meets the inner bracket. Whats the best way to do this? Get a piece of sheet metal behind, weld and fill or make a perfect fit? The areas are around 2inches by 6 inches

I would cut it out back as far as needed and make a replacement part to fit in the hole and start by tacking it in. Being carefull not to weld too much too fast as to warp it. I have done lots of that on mt M37.

I don't know how big a piece you are working with so I am assuming it is 6" x 10". Assuming you dont have any special tools you could take a sand bag and put it on the concrete floor. Then take a wooden dowel maybe 1" in diameter and 6" long. put the flat peice on the sand bag and start by using the wooden dowel to start making the curve. I used a round nosed body hammer on a piece of 2x4 to make the curve. I ended up with little bumps in the metal from my round nosed hammer. So them I used a smaller hammer on an anvil I worked out the small dents. You will probably be working with fairly heavy steel so it will move slow. Keep working it and it should curve for you.It will take time so be patient. Also if you have an anvil with the one end being rounded, You could take a body hammer and slowly bend the metal that way too. I hope I described it good enough.

I formed my rear cab corner using a 5 gallon pail. It worked perfectly.

Thanks for the advice all. Got the pieces made today. Have to wait to Wed for time to weld them in. Once welded in I "ASSUME" you grind down as flush as possible then hammer in?
