I don't have it in front of me but I think it's 1/4" NPT. I will double check this when I get home tonight and post again if it's different than I remember.

The size is correct.
Are you adapting a different engine to your truck?

It sounds like he's putting a civilian dodge or plymouth engine in it. My truck came with a 218 Plymouth industrial engine. I am building a replacement now.
The oil filler and dipstick tubes are press in on those engines.

actually I am building an engine for a WC3/4 ton and I cant stand the press in tubes. they crack from age and abuse. Also I think the late WW2 engines had bolt on fill tubes and threaded dipstick tubes like the T245. I have a T245 I picked up and am working on a guy who has an engineless M37 but we are not eye to eye on a price for the truck. my only 4x4 right now is the WC 52.

no pics handy. it is a long way away from me for now. willl be a year or so before I bring the chassis home for restore. the house project has taken over from truck projects for now. I still am doing things like tsome engine work in the mean time though.
Here is a pics of my last one, ugly but acftually everything underneath that truck was rebuilt and I wheeled the heck out of it for about 10 years. NIcknamed the "offroad phone booth" it was my daily driver for 2 1/2 years at one point. I must have put 90,000 miles on this one. it was a 230 with bigger than stock cam, shaved head, 12 volt generator, unstoppable!

I see this is an old post.
I too have the same issue. Anyone know where I can find this press in type tube? what source? I broke mine off while removing engine. (I got a 1950-51 Plymouth P23 engine, 218 CI)
anyway, I need a press in tube.. anyone have one, or can lead me to a source who sells them?
thanks!
P.S> if this dont work, I could go the threaded type route, having this threaded tube from an old block sitting here. .
can anyone verify if the 1/4" NPT thread is the correct tap size?
