Found an M37 with mods

I was out enjoying the warm weather today on my motorcycle. I came across a place with an M37 in the yard. It had an unusual (to me) power steering setup. Behind the passenger side front bumper there was a large hydraulic ram that connected to the steering parts. On the driver side behind the bumper, on the steering column if I remember correctly, there was a 'box' like part with four hydraulic hoses connected to it. It doesn't look like anything I have seen before. Has anybody heard of a setup like this? H.

I've seen all kinds of things added to these trucks. What part of CT was it in? Taking our bike to Meridan this weekend

Sounds like a steering assist device much like the onese sold for 2.5 ton trucks. The "brain" hooks to the steering column and the ram hooks to the steering parts. When you trun the wheel the brain sends fluid to and from the ram making it either push the wheels one way or pull them the other way. This gives the feeling of power steering because you don't have to work as hard to turn the wheels because the ram is doing the work for you.

While I have no idea what that power steering system looks like or how it works, I'm wondering if some of those massive
hydraulics are linked to a snow plow set up?????
