Hello List!
My truck is a long way off from needing such an item but thought I'd post just the same to gage interest in such a peice of canvas. Does anyone remember those canvas/vinyl covers that covered the "open cockpit" of old British sports cars (think; MGB) when they were sans top? Does anyone make (or has considered making) such an item for the M37? I know companies like Beachwood made bikini tops for the Dodge as well as spare tire covers. This might be a nice item to have for those times when you're sans top and want to park your MV and not leave an exposed interior to the effects of all manner of things (theives, weather, bird poop).

Never heard of anyone that has one but it does sound like a cool idea. I think it would take a little thought on how to attach it . I know on old brit sports cars there was a row of snaps around the cockpit. I'm not sure that would work well on the M.

I was thinking about that last night while typing my original post. This is what I thought; magnets. Sewn into the outter edge of the cover. If you designed this "cover" to fit over the cab with the windshield in the upright position, then the front half of the cover would be held in place by the W/S frame (would slip over the frame like a w/s cover). the rear of the cover could have eyelets so as to make use of the cab's hooks for the top.

If you designed the cover to fit over the top of the cab with the w/s in the folded position, that's going to take a little more "noodling" to figure out how to attach everything but it could still be done. In my original idea, I was thinking the cover would be used with the w/s folded (don't know why,but that's what I was thinking)*.

* Now I know what I was thinking, if you have the w/s in the upright position, then all you would have to do is retrieve the top bow brackets from your bed and reinstall the soft top. cab "cover" is for when the truck is sans top. and you have to leave it (for example to go into a store or resturaunt).

Leave a little flex along the front edge at the base of the windshield and the cover coulb then be used either windshield up or down. If the door glass frames are installed then most likely the top and it's bow are in the pickup anyway so no need for the tonneau type cover..

Yes provided those parts (& the top) are in/on the truck already.

Hi all,
I had a TONNEAU COVER made for my M 1.5 years ago, second summer of use. I had it made by a local marine canvas shop, its mad from SUNBRELLA, color tan, and its fairly waterproof. It has a zipper down the middle, so you dont have to remove the whole thing to drive solo. It is made to go ver the steering wheel and is held in place with marine snaps, chrome over brass. I dont think magnets would work as there is some pooling after a big rain, and the weight would be too great. i just shake it a bit to get rid of the standing water, open the zipper and i am ready to go. I am not good with posting pics, but I hope this gives you an idea of how it works. I had an MGA AND AN AUSTIN HEALY 3000 MK111, both of which had tonneau covers. Thats where I got my idea from. If you have any questions call me 347 200 3015 It cost me $250 to have it made, I got the SUNBRELLA from EBAY.

I am going to make one of those covers. How is yours held down along the front edge and sides?

The front has snaps along the bottom of the windshield frame, the glass can still be opened. The sides of the Subrella come over the top of the doors and are held in place with snaps along the top edge/side of the doors. I wanted the Sunbrella over the top of the door to prevent water from running down inside of the doors. Irene just got out of here and I had need to use the M; lots of standing water, deep. I expected to see a good amount of water in the cockpit, we had about 10", very little. I should have had a flap sewen in over the zipper and held on the other side by velcro. Then probable no water.
