Changing tops

Replaced the canvas with the hard top today - a bit premature (seasonally), but I'm not interested in finding out whether the soft top will survive Irene.
On that note, I have a question. In the arctic hard top (rectangular window), there are 2 ribs that run along the top from back to front - where you attach the headliner. How are those ribs attached? Were they pressed in place or welded? One has popped loose in the front & rattles like crazy!
