The Govenor

Hey gang,

I am in the middle of building a good carb out of two cores. This of course all started when I failed to realize my Kung Fu grip and stripped out the fuel line inlet threads on a beautifully cleaned carb body. I need to have my wife start tighting the 'delicate" stuff LOL(many read last months post about my cracked toilet fiasco in the 'soap box'). The brass adjusting screw for the govenor is in a different position on each carb. There is about a 1/4" difference between the two. Niether had the lead seal and wire intact. Is there a initial adjustment for the govenor setting?I have manuals but not the carb one. Thanks :?

Alan Bowes had a great companion article to his carb overhaul instruction that did the governor.

I have a Adobe file that has all the word but for reasons known but to the computer gods no pictures...and his website is down. I can email you the words but can't help with the illustrations

I musta looked at that site 50 times before deciding to do the carb overhaul. Was very nicely done and with the support of you guys here, I ordered the kit. I went to look for the site and it was down, I read the instructions in the package and in the manual (yikes), saw a lot of small parts in the kit - including little springs and ball bearings - I woke up in a cold sweat. I fell back and punted mine to J. Wallace in FLA....

There is a default setting that we use when rebuilding, however each one has to be set up after the carb is installed & the engine is running in order to get things at their peak. I can e-mail some instructions with pictures directly to you if you'll send me an e-mail.
