engine gasket kit

I see two kinds of gasket kits for the 230; one standard and one with a "hump" so called in the head gasket. Will this be obvious when I tear the engine down which one it is? Is this a early vs. late engine sort of thing?
I am about to tear down this engine I bought last year and check it to see if I can use as is. I will replace all the gaskets and measure all the tolerances before I reassemble.

Without the hump. These kits no longer include all the necessary gaskets for the military 230; the rear main seal, timing cover seal, carburetor mounting gasket, distributor gasket, oil fill tube, thermostat housing, and a couple of other small ones are missing.

I guess I can make those gaskets myself from permatex or cut some gaskets?

GOOD MORNING,
I did an eng rebuild last spring and did not have a couple of gaskets. What a mistake, the gaskets for the front end were among the ones missing. What a pain in the ass. Better get the complete set or at least make sure the front end gaskets are in your package.

All the front end gaskets are in the FS1059C kit, no problem there, it's available anywhere that sells the VICTOR brand, it's the most complete set I've found lately. You don't want to resort to any kits that are old and haver been laying around for years, gasket material will shrink over time laying dormant; causes them not to fit correctly and deteriorated material will tear/split if it must be forced into place, not a good idea to go with and old kit, especially NOS.
