Good Morning, I know this has been hashed around before, but the mind is a terrible thing to waste. I have had my M for about two years, the fuel guage never worked, all other gauges do work. I pulled the eng/trans in May 2010 to do a lower engine rebuild. After I put the eng/trans back in and fired it up the fuel guage worked, worked till about a week or two ago, now nothing, showing empty. Yes there is fuel in the tank, in fact its full. My question; where do I start the troubleshooring??
THANKS BOB

Hmmm! It worked just long enough for you to know that it does work. I suspect a bad ground on the sending unit. The wire from the sending unit to the guage might be shorting out somewhere alont the way, too. I'd check these two things first.

Agreed-run a ground wire from the sending unit to the frame then see if it registers.

Rather then take random shots at the problem use the TB9-2300-228-20 Tactical Transport and Combat Vehicles: Troubleshooting for Instrument Cluster Gages, Switches, Circuit Breakers, Sending Units and Related Wiring dated 8 July 1960. Follow it step by step and you'll win this battle.

HEY!
Thanks to all for your input, I will ck out the tech sheets and work thru it. It does not get much use this time of year, so all I need is some decent weather to get to it.
Grease the knuckles and troubleshoot the fuel guage.
