Distributer Questions

Since I have finally finished the kitchen total re-do I can start on the M37. Over the time I've had it I bought an almost complete distributer, new shaft and bushings, and have a Pertronix unit which I got last X-mas from my son. Today I started the tear down on the dizzy and have two questions. The first is does 6.4 OHMs sound about right on a 24 V original coil? The other question since this unit was fooled with is. The point plate is held into the case by two pieces of flat steel and two screws, correct? My point plate only had one side with the tab that goes into the groove. Due to the cold and that the truck is running OK I want to rebuild this core so that it is a quick swap out. Thanks much folks.

Here is where I stand now. The new bushing are installed, reamed, drilled for oiling, new shaft installed. So far so good but I now realize that my point lobe piece can either be correct or 180* out in relation to the offset drive end of the shaft. That I can correct when I pull out whats there and compare them. The first real question is why after I made the other holding tab the breaker plate will rotate back and forth about 1/8", is this normal?
The next question, why is the Pertronix pick up on the opposite side of the distributer then the points were? I have the old style as they were bought over a year ago by my Son.
