I picked up an NOS generator to regulator cable on ebay recently. It was manufactured in 1958. First thing I noticed is that the regulator end is at 90 degrees, instead of straight. My parts book, dated 1960 only shows a setup with a rectifier, and does not list the part number at all in the index. (the part # is 2920-741-8486-G741) My truck is a 51, and none of my parts trucks are newer than 53, so I have nothing to compare it to. The 90 on the regulator end makes perfect sense, as it eliminated the big loop out towards the inner fender. However, whem I screwed it onto a regulator to check ip out, it turns 90, but is aiming straight up. I need to look closer and see if either the cable can be clocked or if the recepticle on the regulator can turn counter clockwise 90 degrees.
Anyone else run into this?

The rectifier was used only on trucks that had the 100 amp charging systems.

The correct numbers for the generator to voltage regulator harness on a M37 25 AMP system are:

Chrys # 1269045
Titeflex # A36878
Ord # 7351057
Ord Stk # G741-7351057
FSN 2920-735-1057

For some reason, these cables did not get clocked correctly when they before they were packaged. If you loosen the smaller spanner nut, install the cable in the regulator, you can rotate the cable down to the correct position and re-tighten the nut. Problem solved.

Thanks, that was what I was looking for. I suspected that was the case, but hadnt had a chance to investigate it. I was pretty sure cutting a hole in the hood for it to stick up wasnt the right way to go!

Make sure you loosen both ends so the shield is free to turn at both ends.
