Coil

I just picked a '62 M37-B1, still 24V. Ran fine when we looked at it but of course we only drove it a few minutes. Now at home she sputters coughs, and agonizingly quits after about 20-30 minutes of driving in the woods behind the house. 2-3 hours later she cranks up and runs just fine again - for 20-30 minutes and dies again. I checked fuel and filters so I assume the coil is going.

Can the coil be tested?
Any suggestions on where to get a good 24V coil?

I have a Deuce but I am new to the M37 world. Appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you,

Brian

Before you dig deep. Check the fuel tank vent system by removing the cap and then driving it. If it now runs ok the problem will be in tank venting at the cap or vent. Some caps have a selectable valve lever inside for open or closed. Open it if it is closed.

Coils can be checked with an Ohm meter but the current draw test is more reliable. Or if you have access to a coil tester it will be even simpler. New US made coils are at several of the vendors. I believe Midwest Military, AJP and Rapco have them reasonably priced.
