Hello all, I could use some M37 related advice.
I am about to start on a project I have been wanting to build for quite some time. It will require some pretty heavy drive-train modifications. (similar to Josh's truck but a bit simpler ) So I have 3 M37's, One is a parts rig, and the other two are nice rust free original survivors. One of these nice ones will be the basis for my project.

Both trucks are 1951's I don't have the serial numbers in front of me at the moment, but the one truck when I get around to putting it on the registry would be the sec or third lowest serial numbered truck so far registered. I don't know much about it's military history but I can document the fact the Sioux Indian nation owned it as early as 1958. I am the sec owner basically.

So the question, both trucks are running, both are rust free as I have ever seen, and both are more or less complete. Does the early serial number of the one truck in any way make it more appealing to a collector wishing to restore a truck? I am not even sure I would ever sell it, but I'd hate to mess up a chunk of history if it was of any importance. I ask your informed opinions, and advice on this.

Yes, it makes a big difference to some people who want to do a full-off restoration...especially if the bodies are as sound as you describe.

My advice would be to sell the really nice originals at a decent price, keep the parts truck, and buy another restorable but "less nice" truck to do the mods on.

I agree with Lifer, What a shame to cut up and destroy a solid survivor. With what you can sell the good ones for it will help the build on the truck you are hoping to build or you might find someone willing to do a swap for them!

Thanks guys for the ideas. I was mistaken the truck I have is low for a 1951, but not at all low overall. So maybe less of a deal anyway.





These are what I have to work with. I have removed many of the top bows, troop seats from the one as it works here on the farm a fair amount.
