Did the Blue Angels air show this weekend at Idaho Falls, ID.
Pictured is a M-151 Mutt, my Gama Goat, the WC-25 and WC-51 and someone brought a M-211 tractor.
In the back ground is the last remaining wooden log aircraft hanger still existing in the western US, built by the CCC's during the depression.

Malmstrom AFB Mont. had some large pre or early WWII wood hangers.

When I retired from ther AF in 1989, quite a few bases still had WWII-era wooden hangars. I never saw a log hangar, though.

Incidentally, my dad was in the CCC before joining the Navy. He built tourist cabins for the National Park Service.

I have to go back down today and pull the trucks out. Let me get a better picture of the hanger.

Here are the pictures of the hanger.
It is called the Red Baron hanger.
The Red Baron flying service was started maybe in the 50's by one of John Moses Browning's family.
They had a race team.

Very nice, indeed! Just goes to show how big a building you can put together without ceating tons o sawdust in the process. ;)

Looks like you could just about fit a whole squadron of Sopwith Camels in there (especially if they were the size of Snoopy's.)

Very nice looking hanger. Are the walls full round logs or conventional construction with the log skins used for siding?

I am sure that the first floor is all whole logs. However the fancy parquet work in the gables looks to be half logs.

Nice looking hanger. Hopefully it is listed on the Historic Register.
