My radiator cap has come apart on my M37.

Does anyone know what I should ask for at a place like NAPA or auto parts stores.

Are the originals available? or should I just get a replacement that works. Is this a 4 lb pressure cap??

Thanks
Steve

I have a NAPA 4-1144 or a Stant TR-101 in my notes.

I just got off the phone with the Napa store near me and he has no idea what that number 4-1144 is. Does any one have an updated number? He also tried the Stant number TR-101 and nothing came up ..... :?

Sounds like you talked to one of the "young dudes" who only know how to do computer searches. Not all NAPA parts are on the computer. To list all the out-of-date, rarely-called-for parts would bog the system down so much that customers would have to wait "too long" to get the parts they need for their more modern vehicles. You really need to talk to the "old guy" behind the counter. He'll be the one who knows how to use the books and will even be carrying around an "interchange manual" in his head. Whenever I need a part for anything more than 10 years old, I always wait for the "old guy" to finish up with his customer before approaching the counter. I admire the young guys and gals eagerness to serve, but there's no substitute for experience and knowledge of cars/trucks long gone by. :)

Stant TR 101 is the equivalant to Napa/Balkamp #703-1419. 4 PSI ................. The pressure is the one thing we do not know if it is correct or not???? If anyone knows please let us know.

The original is 7 psi, however a 4 psi cap will do ok also. You may fair better taking your old cap in for a match up, but sometimes they don't have enough common sense to do that either. You'll just have to try.
