My truck did a Toyota!

Took her out for a short drive to warm it up for an oil change and the gas pedal went to the floor and carb wide open. Pulled over and saw the problem, the linkage rod from the fire wall came off the bell crank and the return spring jumped off the clip. I put the return spring on the bell crank to put the engine at idle and rode it home in 1st at an idle. The question is how does the block at the end of the rod attach to the hole in the bell crank. It looks like there should have been a pin on that block where a cotter would be used? The TM doesn't show the back side. Thanks much

I have had the throttle stick on my truck also but it was a dirt dobbers nest. It fell right on the linkage and when I punched it It held the throttle wide open. Never thought that could happen. Gotta love Mr. Murphy.

OK here is a set of pics of my linkage from the carb to the pedal. Hope this helps.
Just below the base of the carb at the manifold.

Back to the firewall.

Another angle further back to show the whole linkage going back to the firewall.

Other side of the engine above the starter.

Below the starter and the last bell crank and back through the firewall to the pedal.

All of my pins in the linkage have cotter pins in them.

Thanks for the pictures rixm37, In your first picture you see the square block with the linkage rod? I was wondering how that was originally attached to the bell crank. I caught some time this afternoon and took the square part off the rod and it looks like it might have been riveted onto the crank? I turned a pin on the lathe to fit the bell crank hole and drilled the square out for it and silver brazed the pin in. It is now back together and has a washer and cotter pin holding it on.

Nice, sounds like you won't have any more trouble with it.

Ive always been amazed at the convoluted factory linkage system for the throttle in these trucks!

Ya it's one reason the trucks weigh so much. :D
