The pintle hook assembly on my M-37 does not rotate by hand, is this normal, will it only rotate with the weight of the trailer. The manual states that the 1-1/4" slotted nut is to be tightened just to remove any end play in the pintle adapter, the nut on my truck is so tight that I can not remove the nut with an open end wrench. The gas tank is in the way so a socket and impact wrench will not fit. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

remove the cotter pin holding the nut then get a wrench on the nut and a long thick pipe in the pintle to turn it free, let the wrench but on the frame

I had the same concern but after I finally removed the grease fitting and cleaned it and forced grease in the fitting finally now will turn freely with no problem and no sloppy end play, but if it will not take grease do what Paul has advised to get the nut off!

T.R.,
You should be able to get a pipe wrench on it, then use a cheater pipe for some extra leverage to break it loose.

The other thing that you can do is pull the four bolts that secure it to the frame and put in a vise and run the nut off!
