The gun in my sandblasting cabinet stopped working. Its only a cheap gun. Is there internal parts that can go bad? doesnt appear to have as much suction as it used to. The tip is worn but the next size down does the same thing. Should I just get a better gun?

I finally got fed up with my whimppy suchion gun in my cabinet.
I threw it away and actually installed my pressure hose off my pressure pot sand blaster into the cabinet.
I can't see s--t, but at least I am getting something done.
I do have an internal light and exaust fan.

Try holding your palm over the end of the gun tightly activate the gun and back blowing through the hose you may have blockage in the siphon hose this happens frequently.

Make sure your media is not damp sand likes to bind with very little moisture...

The gun in my blast cabinet quit working a while back. I played all the games trying to unplug it etc and finally found a hole worn through the metal pickup tube, right below the grated floor. I had a piece of metal conduit welded over the hole and its as good as new. Just something to check that you might not thought of.

I actually was wondering about that, but I stuck the hose into some media and it still wasnt picking up very well. Will take a better look at the tube though. Was thinking it coudnt break but I guess it can.

The tube in mine comes up the front panel and then bends a bit coming up through the floor grate. It was right on the bend, where every grain of sand hits it and changes direction. It wasnt visible until I physically removed it from the cabinet.

Thanks, hopefully will get some time this weekend to take it apart.

Blasting guns do have an internal air jet that can wear out. The nozzle and the air jet have to be matched in size to work right also.

Took apart pickup tube and its ok. Time for a new gun

Can you disassemble your nozzle or is it one piece? Anyway a common item to get stuck in the nozzle is a common washer. This happens at work all the time and it will allow you to blow air through but for some reason it chokes out the media. You won't see it unless you take the nozzle end off.

when I take the tip off you can see right through. Looks like the cone maybe worn.

I'll second TP Tools - I purchased one of their cabinets used several years ago and recently went through the pick up tube, hose, and gun to replace the wear parts. I have been using the steel nozzles but may switch to ceramic next time as the wear life on the hardened steel is only a couple of hours before air consumption starts to really go up. The cabinet works much better now and as a bonus, air consumption is less... Mr. Speedaire appreciates that
