So we are painting small stuff with that blue color and it occured to me that some of this may need to be black like the frame. Color opinions on the following"

tie down brackets
tail light brackets
cast rear shackle mounts (inside the rear bumperettes)

These are currently blue. Should they be black to match the frame? Shackles should be blue too though???

Or is this a personal preference type of thing?

Per Air Force requirements of the day, they would be blue. Anything that could be seen from outside the vehicle would be blue except the engine, which would be painted gray and the frame which would remain factory black until it had to be repainted, at which time it would usually be painted blue, also.

Ok, they can stay blue then. It's amazing how MANY individual parts have to be painted...it's as if they are multiplying.....

I think I am going to buy spray cans for some of this stuff.

Do you really think the GI body shops actually removed those parts before painting? Prep usually consisted of a short attack with a pressure washer, if that much. ;)

You're right. I'm attacking the paint as if the truck was post delivery but not been for repainting yet.

It looks like the fan shroud was grey too in the above pic. I wish there were more color shots of original trucks around.

Nice job!

Do you ever come to any local MV meets? Like the Battleship show in Mobile in two weeks?

OMG I truly despise Webshots. I can't save any of the pics there unless I join the darned thing!!

Yes John Webshots is a big PITA. However you can download the photos without joining. Just right click on the photo you want to download and then in the scroll down list that pops up left click on "View Image Info". You will then get a popup window that will list all images on that web page. Scroll down the list clicking on any file name ending in "JPEG" until you open the one of the photo you want. Looking at the photo that appears in that popup window you will see a small clickable icon "SAVE" just above and right of the photo. Click it and save on your computer where you want it.

That doesn't seem to work either. I have right clicked on everything there and never see a "image info" selection.

Could be a browser difference.
