New ones are pretty cheap. I you want to clean yours I would use some aerosol brake cleaner and low pressure compressed air :)

I have soaked them in mineral spirits over night and pressed them nearly dry between several layers of paper towels and allowed them to air dry for a couple of days then blew the rest of the crap out with compressed air. It got all the old dried grease and dirt out. I didn't want to use water and soap because I was concerned they would shrink.

You can get the felt from McMaster-Carr and easily cut your own seals.

Curiosity has got me . I rebuilt my brakes a while ago and don't remember any felts. I looked in the manual at brakes and didn't see any felts. Can someone enlighten me. :?

Do the felt washers need to be oiled before re-installing?

According to the manual "g* Install Brake Shoes and Drum. Soak the felt washers in lubricant and remove all surplus lubricant from them." Anybody know what the lubricant is?
Thanks,
