Any one have first hand knowledge if you can get the oil pan off to change the gasket with the engine in the truck? Will the pan clear the pickup? Any tricks to be had?

Thanks,

Scott

No problem, the pan will drop right off. More than likely the cause for the leak is someone over torqued the bolts and deformed the pan mounting flange. You can fix that easy with a little hammering of the bolt hole area. Be careful not to pull it too tight when you install it. Be sure to seal the gasket mating areas well with a good silicone sealant, (where the side pieces mate to the end pieces). Most pan gaskets are a cork & rubber compound material. Coat all sides with aerosol copper-coat gasket sealer. It will compress easily, when you see the edges start to compress down and squeeze outward, just a tiny bit more is enough.
