M37 disc brake master cylinder mod

I will be starting to replace most of the original brake hardware with front disc brakes / stock rear drum setup on my 52 m37. I will install a master Napa # 39435 which is a 1 5/16" bore chevy master. The master is for a front disc / rear drum 1 ton chevy pickup. Will i need to install a rear residual pressure valve ( 10 psi) and a front disc residual pressure valve ( 2 psi ) in the lines, seeing the master is still under the floor boards?. I would assume that perhaps the master comes with an internal check valve on the rear portion but not sure about the front disc half. Has anyone used this setup under the floor as per helitools instructions and have they had any issues?. I think I might need a rear proportioning valve as well to fine tune the braking action. I have heard that this new master provides a lot more braking action even without a booster.. is this true? Thanks Terry

I used the set up that is on Ray Suiter's sight Ugly Truckling. He specifies the M/C. I converted to front disks only and did not add any pressure valve and my brakes work just fine. Hope this helps.

Proportioning valve

I replaced my whole brake system a few years back (has it been that long??). Went with 4 wheel disc & dual M/C.

At any rate, I put in a proportioning valve. It does help balance the brakes with a full load vs. empty. I guess that just means I can lock all 4 wheels up at the same time instead of just 2. The times I've forgotten to fiddle with the valve, the difference has been at worst "slightly" noticeable to my foot.
