What's the standard practice for removing these? Do you remove both items as one unit or seperate and take them out individually? Also are ther suppose to be some type of rubber motor and trans mounts? All of my mount points are metal to metal nothing in between.
BTW The front end and cab are off.

I pulled the radiator and then made sure everything was disconnected from the engine and trans and pulled them as one unit. Then I seperated the engine from the transmission. Seemed easier to me.

What's the weight of the engine w/ trans?
I'm looking at pulling mine to do a pretty good rebuild on the engine.

I pulled mine as a complete power pack ( as stated in the rebuild manual ). Weight come in around 1100lbs as a complete unit, the engine alone is about 800lbs. You don't have to remove the frt fenders to do this, I was doing a complete restore at the time., You will have to remove the pto if you have one

As Bill stated and pictured in the above post the entire power pack is designed to be removed as a unit and the manual recommends that the coolant and oil be drained, but when I was with the 574th Ordnance Co. at Ft. Knox we didn't drain the radiator because the weight of the coolant helped counterbalance the transmissions weight and allowed the engine to hang more level when using the lifting eye.

When I pulled mine it was still full of fluids and you can see ( as mentioned) how even balanced the power pack is
