Picking up an M37 WW that hasn't been started in 4 years - all bone stock. What's the recommended procedure before lighting her up?

The TM for maintenence. Fresh gas, a way to pump out or drain the stale gas, fresh batteries, motor oil, radiator fliud, brake fluid, fire extinguisher and a flat bed tow truck waiting on standby ? Check all the fluid levels and cross your fingers before you crank it. My mechanical abilities are that of the monkey in the samsonite commercial. I wish you lots of luck. Hopefully someone else with more extensive knowledge will jump into this thread.

everything that Sierra said but I would also suggest that you remove all of the spark plugs and put a couple of drops of oil in each cylinder. The rings are going to be dry/possibly seized so a shot of wd40 definately wouldn't hurt to help make a seal until the engine gets a chance to get some oil up the cylinder.
What I do with dry engines is give each cylinder a squirt, crank it for a couple of revs and then give it another squirt for good measure. Then replace the plugs and try to start it

N1VSM, excellent article. Another similiar trick is if you know that an engine is all gunked up with sludge. Drain the oil and fill the engine with kerosene or white gas, remove the plugs and spin the engine over for a minute or so with an impact gun on the crank nut. let it sit for a few minutes and then do it again and drain the engine. Saves a lot of time on degreasing parts once it's disassembled
