Here's an "in-country" photo a good friend gave my daughter for her Viet Nam school project a few months ago. Mr. D is the skinny guy all the way in the back.

Yea, the "in action" photos are few. He knew I was restoring one but never told me he had an actual photo. Leave it to the cute little girl to get him to rummage through his album.

In short... MINES & IEDs
Sand bags were placed pretty much anywhere to absorb the blast. Floor boards, under the seat, in the bed etc. Actually, he had another photo of captured IEDs and rocket launchers.. The IEDs were C-4 in bamboo. He said they were planted more to disable vehicles and thow tank tracks off than to kill.
