My '58 B1 shows a serial number of 1523 on the tag thats attached to the glove compartment. It also says it was reconditioned in 1971. All other numbers on the dash don't correspond to serial nums used on this site and others.
Any help will be appreciated.

Check the driver's side frame just in front of the steering box-you might have to sand down the grime and paint to find it-the VIN is stamped there usually on the upper half of the frame rail.

This isn't a correct VIN#. The # on the plate is a portion of the VIN#, but what is shown on the plate is actually the sequence of manufacture. The # on the plate will be the last digits in the complete VIN#, so look for that # with other digits preceeding those. All this info of course is out the window if something has been changed or altered in any way. Sometimes glove box doors or even cab tubs get changed with data plates from other trucks left in place.

I am in the same boat. My truck has been stripped of all of it's tags but the title says that the vin is 5445512 which doesn't correspond to the American numbers for these vehicles. Does anyone know if the Canadian trucks used a different numbering system?
