I am interested in picking up an extra 24 volt coil for my truck.

I seem to remember that there is a preference in makers of 24 volt coils US versus off-shore manufacture. This was several years ago and I am not sure of the availability of 24v coils.

Perhaps Charles or someone with experience can chime in on this.

The quality of the import coil marketed by Newstar and others has improved over the years. I am not aware of any current US mfg of these units? There are NOS units floating around but they get pricey.NOS are just that, a 30-50 year old electrical component that could last 10 years or 10 seconds.
I am currently running the import with my original issue as my spare. Perhaps Charles or somebody has dissected an original and the import and can weigh in on "internal quality" between the two?

Good point, might be a good article to disect a couple and send them to a testing lab with a copy of the mil-specs to see how they perform.

The imports are it except for a few oldies that are high $$$ just because someone can call them NOS. Like David said, they are so old now, I'd hate to pay the price for NOS. We have the New Star coils in stock, I've had good luck with them for the most part.

Speaking of, their is a guy on eBay right now selling a Newstar coil as "NOS" . Maybe he thinks that means "Not Original Style"

It pays to be a smart, educated buyer. ebay is the perfect place to get ripped off.
